As a child, Anne gave away her bread to beg-gars for the love of Christ. Her brothers wanted her to marry, but she wanted to become a religious, so she stopped talking to any men the brothers introduced to her. Eventually she became a close friend of St. Teresa of Avila, helping her start new homes and monasteries.
