(1792–1879)
The former house servant who, with two friends, rented an attic apartment where they offered hospitality to the poor and elderly. Others joined them, opening more houses of hospitality; they became known as the Little Sisters of the Poor. Here is a quote from Jeanne; “Never forget that the poor are Our Lord. In caring for the poor, say to yourself, ‘This is for my Jesus.’”
