(1907-1944)

“Why can’t we trust Our Lady?” This was the constant refrain of Edel Quinn, an Irish woman who traveled to East Africa in 1936 to establish the Legion of Mary there. She traveled extensively, relying on her deep faith to overcome many obstacles. She actively combated racism, establishing centers where white and African Catholics worshiped side by side. Even as she slowly died of poor health, people noticed her constant joy, peacefulness, and generosity.
