An old Catholic tradition is the practice of saying a quick prayer—typically the Sign of the Cross or a short exhortation such as “Jesus, we love you!”—when passing a Catholic church, in acknowledgement of Jesus’ real presence in the form of the Eucharist in the church’s tabernacle. See Eucharistic Adoration for some talking points related to this practice.
